Freight, duty and clearing allocated across the shipment, so item cost reflects what the goods actually cost to land.
Counting discipline is the other half
Software makes inaccuracy visible; it does not make stock accurate. Cycle counting — a rolling count of part of the warehouse rather than one annual shutdown — is what closes the gap, and Odoo supports it directly.

It will make inaccuracy visible and give you the tools to close it, principally cycle counting. Accuracy comes from counting discipline; the software shows where the discipline is missing.
Do we need the manufacturing module too?+
Only if you make things. Buying and reselling needs Inventory alone; bills of material, work orders and production costing need Manufacturing alongside it.
